The PV-cell voltage remains relatively constant. Because the PV-cell terminal voltage and current are both proportional to ambient operating conditions, the loading must be adjusted to provide maximum power under all operating conditions. This is known as Star Student Project MPP tracking. A practical method to implement MPP tracking is to utilize a switching converter between the PV generator and the system load. The converter provides an interface for transferring power between the PV generator and the load as well as galvanic isolation if an isolated converter is used.
